President Ruto Inspects Siaya’s Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium as Modernization Hits 47% Completion
President William Ruto, joined by Defence Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru, conducted inspection of the ongoing construction and modernization at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya.
The delegation was received by Acting County Secretary Ms. Elizabeth Adongo, Chief of Staff Cyrus Oguna, Tourism, Sports, Culture and Arts CECM Dr. Nicholas Kut Ochogo, Sports and Arts Director Dr. Sanmac Okoth, and his deputy, Mr. Achieng P. Ang'awa.
The visit marked the final leg of the President’s four-day development tour across the Luo Nyanza region.
Key Highlights of the Project
Completion Timeline: Construction currently stands at 47%, with full completion targeted for the end of February 2027.
National-County Partnership: The national government has taken over the second phase of modernization to elevate the facility to national standards, working in close collaboration with Governor James Orengo’s administration.
Infrastructure: Upon completion, the facility is slated to rank as the fourth-best stadium in Kenya, behind only Nyayo, Kasarani, and Talanta sports complexes.
Broader Impact: Beyond nurturing local sports talent and boosting athletic programs, the ultra-modern venue is expected to serve as a major regional tourism draw.
